The 2008
ENnie Award nominations have been announced and
Evil
Hat Productions' holiday themed Spirit of the Century
supplement Spirit of the Season has been nominated for
Best Supplement. Congratulations to writers Fred Hicks, Chad Underkoffler,
and Daniel M. Perez!
The ENnie
Awards (Annual Gen Con EN World RPG Awards) are an annual fan-based
celebration of excellence in tabletop roleplaying gaming. The
awards give recognition to game publishers, designers, writers,
and artists and are a "peoples' choice" award since
the final winners are voted upon by the gaming community itself.
Voting at
the ENnie
Awards website will run from July 21 to August 3 and is open
to the public, so cast your vote!
In support
of
the nomination, Evil
Hat Productions is offering the ENnies Extended Free Preview
PDF of Spirit of the Season as a free download from Drive
Thru RPG. The Spirit of the Season ENnies Extended
Free Preview PDF is a trimmed-down preview version of the supplement
and does not contain the extra spellcasting rules, villains, or
Chanukah allies. It also comes with a black and white cover instead
of the full-color version.
The full, updated
print and PDF editions of Spirit of the Season are available
from Indie
Press Revolution. For those who downloaded the Free Holiday
Gift Edition or ENnies Extended Free Preview PDF, this upgraded

additional pieces of artwork as well as a full-color cover.

all of the artwork for the supplement. If you'd like to see previews

in support of the Heroes Con cause. I touched base with friend
and writer of the zombie thriller webcomic Devolution,
Matt Yocum. We talked at length about the business in general,
Devolution, and a possible future collaboration based
on one of his earlier novels. I also had a chance to sit and talk
with Ritch Hall of Hallboy
Comics. Ritch is a talented, professional, and driven writer/creator
of projects like The Quest of Sief, Atom Family, and
Oya. We also discussed a possible collaboration on one of
his fantasy projects. Check back for updates as these projects

Evil
Hat Productions' holiday themed Spirit of the Century
supplement Spirit of the Season has been reviewed by
Matthew Pook of the online gaming source Pyramid. I provided all
of the artwork for this supplement and he has this to say about
it:
"Spirit
of the Season is a slim digest-sized book, decently written
with nice artwork... The cover is particularly good, aping the
style of the cover for Spirit of the Century (which depicted
the heroes fighting the gorilla pilot of a biplane as a zeppelin
looms overhead) with Nick Saint rocketing to the rescue of a Christmas
parade being attacked by Jacques Frost riding a woolly Mammoth!"
He has this
to say about the supplement as a whole:
"I like
Spirit of the Season. It is fun, it is full of good cheer, and
it does full justice to both Christmas and Chanukah without being
cheap or tacky in its treatment of the various elements that make
up both holidays, and with so many days until Christmas, I just
found my first Christmas present."
If you have
a Pyramid subscription you can read the complete review here.
The updated
print and PDF editions of Spirit of the Season are available
from Indie
Press Revolution. For
those who downloaded the Free Holiday Gift Edition PDF, this upgraded
edition contains over 20 pages of new material, including Mystic
Spellcraft rules, Empathy-driven minion stunts for heroes, and

Finished
two pictures for The Hole promotional pin-up book. The book commemorates
the April 2008 release of The Hole: Consumer Culture,
a graphic novel by Damian Duffy and John Jennings. The

horror story about the buying and selling of race in America,
the simultaneous worship and degradation of African Americans
in popular culture, and the bloody terror of boundaries being
torn down. It is being published by Chicago-based publisher Front
40 Press and distributed by the University of Chicago Press.
The pin-up
book is comprised of interpretations of the characters from the
graphic novel by various artists and will be available from Lulu.com

Recent
praise for the Grafenveer series:
"Christian St. Pierre is a real rising star illustrator.
His dark vision and creativity is reminiscent of early Berni Wrightson.
Keep an eye on this guy because he's drawing stuff that will scare
the crap out of you."
Buddy
Scalera

“ I
really enjoy reading this story! With Grafenveer’s three
dimensional characters, stark artwork, and stirring dialog, I
can hardly wait until the next issue to see where it all takes
me!”
Prof.
William H. Foster III
Comic Book Historian
I would like
to thank both Buddy and Prof. Foster for their continued support
and encouragement.
